Rakhi Sawant was born in Mumbai in 1978. Originally named Neeru Bheda, Rakhi Sawant’s brother, Rakesh Sawant, is a film director, and Usha Sawant, an actress. Rakhi Sawant’s career has been exciting and varied. She has done everything from perform as an item girl, serve as a TV talk show host, model and be a well-known Hindi movie actress.

Rakhi Sawant began her career humbly, while in high school taking a minor dancing role in the movie Joru Ka Ghulam. She also performed in Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne. She has been in several other films since then. She participated in the well-known reality show Nach Baliye 3 with her at the time boyfriend Abhishek Avasthi. Upon losing the couple sued the Star Plus Company for tampering with the votes.

One of aspects of her career that Rakhi Sawant is best known for is her reality show, Rakhi Ka Swayamwar. This show was based around her life as she attempted to choose the man she would marry. The pilot and finale episodes of this show held the record for greatest viewing on the Imagine TV network. At the end of the show Rakhi Sawant chose her husband, contestant Elesh Parujanwala. THe couple ended up separating months later, officially due to “irreconcilable differences.”

Since then Rakhi Sawant has been in Zara Nachke Dikha, playing herself, and the film “No One Killed Jessica” where she played the starring role, Jessica Lal. Rakhi Sawant has led a varied and exciting career, dong everything from reality shows to films to modeling.
