Rakhi Sawant was born in India on November 25, 1978. She is a talented actress, dancer, model and host of a television show. Her maiden name is Neeru Bheda and she is the daughter of Jaya Bheda and Sawant. Her brother, Rakesh Sawant is a film director and her sister, Usha Sawant used to work as an actress, but gave up this career, opting for a regular lifestyle. Rakhi Sawant went to school at Goklibai High School in a small suburb of Mumbai called Vile Parle and she continued her studies at the Mithibai College. Rakhi Sawant debuted in 2003.

Rakhi Sawant auditioned in 2003 for a Bollywood production called Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, where she wanted to play an item number. Item numbers are the singing and dancing scenes in Bollywood productions, with beautiful women, extraordinary dancing routines and singing, not very related with the topic of the movie, but very commercial. Rakhi Sawant did not get a part at the first audition, she auditioned four times before she finally received a part in an item number composed by Himesh Reshammia, item number called Mohabbat Hai Mirchi. This is considered by Hindi movie specialists to be the breakthrough number for Rakhi Sawant.

Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne is the Indian film released beyond the Indian borders with the name Captured by You. The director of this movie is Sangeeth Sivan and the movie was released in March 21, 2003. Rakhi Sawant has in this movie the part of Sheena, a con woman going after Tina and Coco, the main characters, two orphans – brother and sister – raised by Tony, a conman. When Tony dies, they found out that he was a conman and his partners – Sheena, played by Rakhi Sawant, Om and Chingar are tracking them down because they are convinced the siblings have some money that Tony stole. The movie is based on another production, named Charade, from 1963. Rakhi Sawant gained fame and money and received a lot of offers to play in movies, in small parts and not only, after this movie was released and had great success in India.
